Your Family is NORMAL. (And yet everyone thinks their family is the handful.)
This fall has been nutty in all things photos around Chicago! However, did you know that for many of my new clients, the number one regret I hear is not having scheduled a photo session sooner?
Many people procrastinate in scheduling a family photo session because they are worried. I get it. It’s a big investment in both time and money. Parents often worry about how their kids will respond during a photo session. They’re worried about them being too shy, too wild, too ________.
Quick reality check. EVERY FAMILY brings their own version of chaos and fun to every single photo session. Yours will too. That it is entirely NORMAL and EXPECTED!
I wish I could tell you all the backstories on each photo I show you. I wish I remembered to pull out my phone and make a quick video of the behind-the-scenes chaos that is every photo session.
Families are on the move. Siblings squabble. We make silly jokes, some are the sort that induce eye rolls. Sometimes a kid bursts in tears because you know, kids.
Kids sometimes run AWAY from me because they want nothing to do with the camera. (Spoiler alert: In 99% of my sessions, I’ve become buddies with the kids by the end. For that other 1%, I have a long lens on and give them space. It always works.)
Yet, every single time, the camera finds the love, laughter, and fun energy. (It only takes 1/500th of a second for that to happen!) When I go to upload the photos to my computer afterwards, I’m always smiling at the milliseconds captured.
Just in case you’re still shaking your head at this point, know that I have a semi-insurance policy within my package structure. When you book your photos, you just pay a session fee. Then, once you see your photos, that’s when you’ll select your collection.
Each collection includes digitals and a print credit so that you can walk away with heirloom quality prints so that you can tell your kids’ grandkids all about the chaos that they were.
The high-resolution digital files that you select as part of your collection are all retouched. This way, if your kid comes home with a bruise from the playground right before our photo session, I’ll work the Photoshop magic for you. (The retouching also helps with clothing malfunctions, windy hair problems, photo bombers, and more.)
You can also choose to print the non-retouched photos as part of your albums, etc. so all memories can still land on your coffee table in the end.
