The Proofing Gallery vs. The Retouched images

The first round of photos that I deliver to you are in a proofing gallery. This gallery contains the images that I’ve culled down and applied global edits such as color and overall brightness. At this point, it is up to you to decide what images you’d like me to turn into the retouched file for downloading in high-resolution and marketing.

Editing and retouching is a process. And it takes time. This is why I like to pour my time and energy into the images that you also love after you have had a chance to view them.

The Editing Process Explained

Editing photographs is kind of like writing a term paper in school. First comes the rough draft. These are the initial edits in your proofing gallery. They are edited to closely resemble my vision for your portraits and other branding photos.

Once you view your proofing gallery, you’ll be able to make your image selections through an interactive online gallery I’ve created just for you. This is where you’ll also have the opportunity to let me know if there’s certain things you want me to watch out for as I retouch your images.

What Edits Are Included?

You can expect all my final edits to include removing background distractions, cleaning up flyaways, healing blemishes, removing lint, and additional color corrections. I also dodge and burn on your face to make you look brighter and truly pop. Think of this like adding minimal contour makeup.

I keep my roughing subtle and natural. (You are gorgeous without the retouching!) Retouching is mostly meant to add overall polish.

I realize that sometimes, an image is only meant to be seen in a small square on social media. Therefore, these don’t necessarily need to be retouched in the same way as a larger hero image on a website. I now offer a social stack option within a branding session. These are the images downloaded as-is in a web-ready format. This way, you can better align your image needs to your budget.
