In Pursuit of Perfectionism

Every January, we are bombarded with wellness, organization, and all things self-improvement.

It is the time of year where so many of us are in the post holiday recovery and reflection mode. Some write New Year Resolutions. Fewer actually keep them.

There is a fine line between striving to be better versions of ourselves and making ourselves chasers of perfection. I am no different. I wish I could control my nerves a bit better after a long day and my kids are bouncing off the walls. I’d like to find more time in my day to explore creative outlets, while also exercising more. I’d like to go on more adventures, the kind that make my heart beat a little faster. I’m constantly working on making my business a little better by taking classes, improving processes, and working on this website (again.)

Did you know that the Amish leave little imperfections when they make furniture because no human is perfect?

And do you know what? The imperfections, the HUMAN, is what makes it all beautiful. Imperfection is beautiful. Your stories, your ordinary stories are magic!

I have a not-so-secret for you. Not one single photo session since beginning business in Chicago in May 2015 has been 100% perfect. The photographs don’t show the behind-the-scenes planning, spills, anxiety, or commotion. They are all products of humans and their stories and each one is incredibly unique. That is where the magic and beauty comes from. We can all try to be a little bit better with our New Year’s resolutions, but we also need to realize that where we’re at right now is pretty stinking amazing too.

Let’s find your beauty in the perfect imperfect during a family, personal branding, or business branding photo session.
